THINGS Friday, slow day at work, and playing around with Claude Code, and this Frontmatter Extension in VSCode for these posts. I used Claude to help add the photo posts page up top and clean up some of the UI. It’s just so good at it and so much faster than hunting down css parameters. I love that Claude Code can just go ahead and make the changes we’re talking about:

BUCKEYES Well, the season is over, and I skipped entries for the final two games, losses to Indiana in the Big Ten Championship, and a loss to Miami in the College Football Playoff. SAD FACE! Our entire offense, but offensive line specifically, was butt cheeks in these last two games. And guess what positions we didn’t bring in any portal players for? You guessed it. Hartline announcing his departure for USF Head Coach after the skunkweasel game didn’t help.

BUCKEYES Gameday Bitches. #3 Buckeyes vs #1 Longhorns.
Honestly, a loss here wouldn’t have surprised me, but the Buckeyes Defense looked legit, and now I’m suddenly lofting my expectations for the year.
Standouts: Arvelle Reese, Jermaine Matthews, Caleb Downs, Carnell Tate.
DateOpponentWhereShirtUsThemResultRecord8/30/2025Texas LonghornsShoeRed Helmet (3-0)147WIN1-0QUOTE of the DAY “Think of your energy as if it’s expensive, as if it’s like a luxury item.

MOM I took my Mom into the ER on Wednesday 6/20, since she hasn’t been able to get up by herself, or walk without pain. Coupled with the memory issues, the incontinence, it’s been a lot to deal with. I need some help here, and I think we hit a tipping point where it’s more care than I can give her.
She spent 24 hours or so in the ER, and was transferred upstairs to a room in the hospital.

HAPPENINGS Just finished my 56th trip around the Sun, WHAT?! HOW? The math doesn’t make sense, but that’s what the driver’s license says. Somehow I’m a middle-aged adult with a wife, kid, pets, and responsibilites galore. In my brain I still feel like a 20 year old immature child.
Anyway, I had a lovely, and peaceful Birthday. Meam and Krug came by early to pick Olive up, and Walker and I sat in bed and watched some Love Is Blind trashy TV and it was glorious.

HAPPENINGS Well, I’ve spent the last few hours dealing with the disappearance of my 12TB Sandisk “Professional” G-Drive. Not stolen, just missing from Windows. Power was intermittent, spin-up was intermittent, my frustration was constant. The drive itself was encased in a titanium vault apparently to protect it from nuclear fallout, whose impenetrability I discovered as I attempted to dismantle it. After removing 4 rubber feet, 12 screws, digging a screwdriver under four separate plates, I finally got to the drive itself.

BUCKEYES First of all, the Bucks beat Purdue 45-0 on Saturday, the score not QUITE indicative of the game, as it didn’t seem like this much of a beating, but to my eyes we never quite look as good as I think we should.
Regardless, we’re ranked #2 in the current CFP standings, and currently project as a #5 seed and playing Boise State at the Shoe in the first round.

HAPPENINGS 8:30pm: I moved Olive’s bike, I moved Walker’s bike, I saw my bike: dusty and forgotten. I pulled it out, filled the tires with air, strapped my little JBL speaker to the back and road off into the neighborhood. Dark AF. I figured my eyes would get used to it, but they didn’t really. Regardless, it felt GREAT. The air was cool-ish, the houses were silent, and the music was good.

HAPPENINGS Well it’s been a couple of weeks.
BUCKEYES: it’s DUCKHUNTING WEEK ! The Iowa game went pretty much how I thought it might, tough initially and then the Bucks would pull away. I think we had similar defenses, but our offense just has the numbers. It was a good test, and good prep for Oregon this week.
2-0 in the Buckeye Donuts shirt
I know I’m ALWAYS nervous before games, and that is certainly how I’m feeling this week.

HAPPENINGS Well it’s been a couple of weeks.
BUCKEYES: it’s GAMEDAY Looking good so far, this team is super fun to watch, but a big test today with IOWA coming to the Shoe. The Bucks are 18.5 pt favorites, which seems like … a lot. It was Walker’s morning, She and Olive went to Lonestar Tacos with Kristi and Grace, and then off to the WG Jones Park (south side).
I made some coffee and walked around the back yard, then took the recycling to the Woodlands center. I dropped into PGA Superstore, bought yet another shirt (chill out man) and also a putter (see previous note).
The putter is a Ping Tyne H, feels milled, but isn’t.
